Boom Segment: Tourism for medical & health travel reasons

Medical & Health Tourism has been increasing globally for years. And today, it is a multi-billion dollar industry that is expected to grow by up to 25 percent per year over the next ten years.

There are different reasons for people to travel for medical reasons:

Higher quality in care and services
Reduced costs of cross-border medical treatment
Medical treatment combined with attractive destinations
Treatments and medications not approved or available in the home country

And Medical and Health Tourism has established itself as an important and constantly growing segment at ITB Berlin in recent years as well. Medical providers such as clinics, hospitals, as well as hotels, destinations and travel specialists with relevant healthcare offerings can present their products and services here. Buyers and agencies are specifically targeted to visit the ITB Berlin Medical & Health Tourism Pavilion.

Medical & Health Media Reception

Following the official opening of the Medical & Health Tourism Pavilion on the first day of the trade fair, all accredited journalists and editors are invited to a media reception in the Pavilion to receive current information from exhibitors first hand. The Medical & Health Media Luncheon, which will take place for the first time on the second day of the trade fair, offers the opportunity for an exclusive exchange with the various media participants.

Medical & Health Tourism Stage

At the segment stage, all trade visitors can find out about new developments and current trends in this growth market during presentations, expert interviews, product presentations and discussion sessions on all three days of the trade fair. The program is created in collaboration with ITB Berlin’s various segment partners from the Medical & Health Tourism industry.

ITB Medical & Health Night

In addition to a networking reception for pavilion exhibitors and trade visitors at the end of the first day of the trade fair, the ITB Medical & Health Night on Wedenesday of the trade fair offers trade visitors, exhibitors and partners the opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts in an exclusive atmosphere. The ITB Medical & Health Tourism Awards, selected by a renowned jury with representatives from the medical and health tourism industry, will also be officially presented on this evening.
